Here we go. Widgizit represents the very front end of a meandering trek into the world of widgets. As someone with a reasonably strong development background but with little experience with web-based technologies, this has been a longer journey than I (at least) expected, but hey, it’s been fun so far. I’m intending for this site to give us the opportunity to play around with various ideas and benefit from the feedback loop afforded by the Web.

Newsweek published an article at the end of last year called The Year of the Widget?, talking about widgets as a manifestation of evolving web identity, customization, and personalization. The whole concept behind widgets intrigues me, as much socially as technically, and it’s been interesting watching the momentum grow over the past six months as players ranging from the microscopic to the truly gigantic (Yahoo, Microsoft, Google) have entered the fray.

Depending on your viewpoint, either have patience as we iron out the kinks and attempt to figure this out… or laugh and enjoy the show!
